'FAIRGROUND ORGAN & THEATRE ADDITIONS' Organ Samples (Tyros3)

'FAIRGROUND ORGAN & THEATRE ADDITIONS' Organ Samples (Tyros3)

Product Information

Fairground Organ & Theatre Additions Organ Samples.
(For use in conjunction with the 'Theatre Magic' software collection for Tyros3)

COMPATIBLE WITH: Tyros3 - supplied on USB stick

T.T.T.’s latest software release sees a return to the company’s specialist field of traditional organ voice samples - in which they excel. Fairground Organ sounds have always been a popular item on the traditional enthusiast’s wish list - so I’m sure this terrific collection of genuine Fairground Organ samples for Tyros3 will be warmly welcomed.

Important: As with the majority of software from T.T.T. you’ll need to install DIMMs expansion memory in order to use this package. The placing of the sounds is important too - so if you’re running both Yamaha and T.T.T. samples in your keyboard you may need to shuffle the voices around for best results.

Content:

  • Voices:
New, hi-definition, multi-sampled voices in the package include...
    Compton Melotone (see below)
    Glockenspiel (with reiteration)
    Fairground Organ Reeds
    Fairground Organ Flutes.
‘Traps and Toys’ (a selection of sampled effects encompassing favourites such as Blackpool Crash Cymbal, Ritz Crash Cymbal, Train Whistle, Surf/Steam, Car Klaxon, Firebell, Telephone Bell and Triangle).
  • Multipads:
The package includes three sets of multipads with special pre-recorded ‘Fairground’ backings and five that feature special pre-recorded theatre-type backings utilising voices from T.T.T.’s Theatre Magic Volumes 1 and 2. It’s important that these sounds are pre-loaded to the correct voice numbers in order for the backing to work properly.
All the multipads can be used on their own - or with the appropriate style to give typical theatre or fairground accompaniment playing styles. They are set to follow left-hand chord progressions and tempo.
  • Registrations:
Three sets of Fairground Organ registrations are also included (with eight registrations per set).
  • Styles:
    Edited styles include...
Fairground 44 (for quicksteps and other 4/4 time signatures)
Fairground 68 (for marches and other 6/8 time signatures)
Fairground QW (for quick waltz tempos).

  • About the Fentham Hall Compton Melotone Unit

This electrostatic tone generator was used with many fine Compton theatre organs around the country. It gives a unique addition to the more usual pipe ranks with a singing, ethereal tonal quality unlike any other. It is normally used with a deep, almost sobbing, vibrato and ‘echo’ (which would be called sustain on modern electronic organs) could be added too.

Best used in slow tunes, it would be available at several footages - plus preset combinations such as Krumhorn, Cor Anglais, Musette and Carillon (normally used without vibrato).
The Melotone was put to great effect by organist Dudley Savage in his radio broadcasts and recordings of that bygone era. Sadly, few playable examples have survived - due, in part, to the wear and tear of more than 70 years use, but also to a rather unstable and complex design that makes them very sensitive to temperature changes and humidity.

We have had the honour of sampling the excellent unit still attached to the Compton theatre pipe organ in Fentham Hall, Marsh Lane, Hampton In Arden, Solihull. Now, any enthusiast can enjoy this unique and rare sound. We hope this will help preserve the Melotone - albeit in a ‘virtual’ sense - in a similar way we have also preserved the sounds of many wonderful theatre pipe organ installations around the country.
